Assemblyman Kevin Rooney (R-Wyckoff) slammed Gov. Phil Murphy over a set of conditions the governor wants before eh moves to reopen the state’s economy.
“The constituents of New Jersey had enough and want to get back to work. The road map Governor Murphy addressed today is to absolutely nowhere,” Rooney said. “Governor Murphy needs to give the residents and business owners a real plan to recovery and he needs to do it now.”
Though Murphy said the state will have accomplished one of his four goals by the end of May, he said Monday that his ordering shuttering most of the state’s businesses will remain in effect “until further notice.”
Rooney said his office received hundreds of calls and emails about a discrete date to the reopening of the state’s economy.
“Today the Governors executive order remains in effect indefinitely. If Walmart, Target and Home Depot can all be open, why can’t small businesses? Why can’t we implement guidelines for small businesses? They are prepared. I have spoken to dozens of business owners who have purchased masks, thermometers, built protective areas for employees and their customers.
