State Sen. Declan O’Scanlon (R-Little Silver) said former first lady Mary Pat Christie would make a great congressional candidate.
“I love her. From the very start, she is one of the classiest people I have met in politics and one of the smartest people I have met in general,” O’Scanlon said. “I haven’t spent a lot of time with her, but she’s great. She’s really amazing. If we as potential constituents here in New Jersey can figure out how to exploit the wonderful things I think she’d bring to the table, I think that’d be fantastic.”
Former Gov. Chris Christie floated his wife as a potential challenger to Rep. Mikie Sherrill at a book-signing event earlier this week.
The former governor said he was trying to lobby Mary Pat Christie into mounting a run, though it’s unclear if those entreaties have been met with success.
