After trailing last night, Senate Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch) is now 1,052 votes ahead in his bid for re-election to a second term in the State Senate.
Gopal leads Republican Lori Annetta, 33,610 to 32,558, after more ballots were counted in Monmouth County on Wednesday evening.
Annetta was 490 votes in front last night and 423 up earlier in the day.
Two Republican Assembly challengers, Marilyn Piperno (33,534) and Kimberly Eulner (33,378), still lead three-term Democratic incumbents Joann Downey (31,621) and Eric Houghtaling (31,406).
The Green Party candidate, Dominique Faison, has 1,025 votes.
Gopal was elected to the Senate four years ago after ousting three-term Republican incumbent Jennifer Beck.

Piperno 25.1%, Eulner 24.9% // Downey 24.7%, Houghtaling 24.5% // Faison 0.8%
