Atlantic County Republicans awarded their organization line to Chris DelBorrello for State Senate in the 4th district, giving him a county that represents about 7% of the GOP primary votes in bid for the open seat of Democrat Fred Madden (D-Washington Township), who is retiring after 20 years in the upper house.
A former Washington Township councilman, DelBorrello will face Nicholas DeSilvio, a Gloucester County Commissioner, in the GOP primary. DeSIlvio has won lines in Gloucester and Camden counties.
DelBorello’s two running mates, former Buena Council President Matthew Walker, Sr. and newcomer Lisa Rayca. They will face Michael Clark, a 24-year-old businessman and athletic director of the Solid Rock Christian School, and Denise Gonzalez, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and also a member of IBEW Local 351, in the GOP Assembly primary.
Democrats have still not announced their candidate to replace Madden.
DelBorrello served as a councilman from 2011 to 2015. He now lives in Gloucester Township.
