Gov. Phil Murphy’s Deputy Press Secretary, Liza Acevedo, is leaving the governor’s team, but she’s only moving down the street, joining Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin press operation.

“Liza has experience developing communication strategies, which will be instrumental in getting our message out and ensuring it reaches the people we want it to reach,” said Speaker Coughlin. “I’m happy to have her round out our communications team, as we work to keep New Jerseyans informed about the work we are doing on their behalf in the Assembly.”

Acevedo will serve as strategic communications director and spokesman for Coughlin.

The speaker is also bringing on Kevin McArdle, a former journalist who is currently spokesman for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, to run his the Assembly majority office’s communications team.

McArdle will be communications director for the Democratic caucus of the legislature’s lower chamber.
