Sean Caddle needs a new co-signor on his $1 million bond to remain on house arrest after the previous guarantor, his mother, was killed in a car accident on February 27.

The former political consultant has been at his Sandyston home with an electronic monitoring device on an unsecured bond since pleading guilty in January 2022 to a murder-for-hire scheme.

U.S. District Court Judge John Michael Vazquez ordered Caddle’s lawyer and the U.S. Attorney’s office to agree on a new co-signor by today as a replacement for Diana Caddle, 72, who had a heart attack while driving.

“The parties have conferred, and defense counsel has identified a proposed co-signor who is acceptable to the Government provided that the individual is also acceptable to (the U.S) Pretrial (Services Agency),” Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee Cortes said in a letter to Vazquez.

Cortes, who did not publicly disclose the name of the proposed co-signor, said that pretrial services has “begun its process to verify the individual’s suitability as a co-signor.”

Cortes has asked Vazquez to extend the deadline to finish the process to March 28.

Caddle has been cooperating with federal prosecutors.    His sentencing has been pushed from later this month to June 29.

Caddle hired the two career criminals, George Bratsenis and Bomani Africa, to kill Galdieri, the son of former State Sen. James Galdieri (D-Jersey City), in 2015.  Prosecutors say Caddle wanted Galdieri dead over a financial dispute.

Bratsenis and Africa fatally stabbed Galdieri, a one-time political operative and candidate for Jersey City councilman, and then set his apartment on fire.

Vazquez sentenced Africa to 20 years in prison.  Bratsenis will be sentenced next week.
