Alvena Snedeker, the widow of late Assemblyman Clifford W. Snedeker, died on March 21. She was 86. She was active in community affairs in Lawrenceville and was involved in her husband’s successful campaigns for Lawrence township committee and Mercer County freeholder in the 1960’s and for his five races for State Assembly. Cliff Snedeker was elected to the Assembly in 1974 and lost re-election in 1981 after he was redistricted into the 15th district and defeated for re-election by Democrat John S. Watson, the father of Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman. He later served as director of motor vehicles under Gov. Thomas Kean.
Alex Zecca, Jr., a member of the Brick Republican Club, passed away on March 20. He was 81. He was a manager for the Newark Housing Authority and was a fraud investigator from Essex County before his retirement.
