Sherry Hutchins-Henderson, former judge, dies at 62

Sherry A. Hutchins-Henderson, a former Superior Court Judge, died on August 4.  She was 62.

Hutchins-Henderson was nominated to the Superior Court by Gov. Richard Codey in 2006 and she was confirmed for a tenured term in 2013.  She was assigned to the criminal court in Essex County at the time of her retirement in 2018.

Prior to serving as a judge, Hutchins-Henderson served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Born and raised in East Orange, Hutchins-Henderson attended Rutgers University and Howard University Law School.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Eugene Henderson, her daughter and stepdaughter.

A walk-through visitation will be held on August 11 from 9 AM to 10:15 AM at the Saint Matthew AME Church in Orange.
