Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Chairman Kevin O’Toole issued the following statement on the death of Rep. Donald M. Payne, Jr.:
“I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. First as an Essex County Freeholder, then as a Newark City Councilman and, finally, as a Member of Congress, he was a tireless champion for the people he was elected to serve and always kept their needs at the forefront of his mind. The Payne family has a long history of public service in our state and Donald’s contribution to it will forever remain a distinguished part of that legacy.”
