Oliver Tribute: Upendra Chivukula

Upendra Chivukula, a former assemblyman and commissioner of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, released the following statement on the death of Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver:

“It is so difficult to accept the passing of a wonderful friend, LG Sheila Oliver, with whom I had the pleasure of serving in the legislature as a colleague for 12 years. She was a good listener and cared about issues that mattered in minority communities. She was an outspoken advocate for education, and the wellbeing of those who did not have a voice.

Sheila Oliver was my Speaker in the Assembly for many years, and she was easily accessible to her colleagues. I have tremendous respect for her and strongly believe that the state of New Jersey will miss her leadership. Thank you, LG Oliver, for your great service to the people of New Jersey.”
