Flags in New Jersey will fly at half-staff on February 16 in honor of Francis L. Bodine, a former assemblyman from Burlington County who died on January 11.
“As we mourn the passing of Assemblyman Bodine, we recognize and honor his legacy as an elected official and his commitment to Burlington County and the State of New Jersey,” said Murphy. “We must also remember him not only for his lifetime of public service, which included service in the U.S. Army, but also for his generosity and guidance.”
Bodine served in the State Assembly from 1994 until 2008, much of that time in Republican leadership, and his final ten months as a Democrat. He was a Burlington County freeholder and Moorestown mayor.
“During his time in the General Assembly, Assemblyman Bodine sponsored critical transportation funding legislation and worked to expand senior health care and farmland preservation,” Murphy stated. “His legacy will live on as New Jersey continues to advance our transportation infrastructure, health care access, and land preservation goals. Tammy and I send our deepest condolences to his family.”
