A memorial service for environmental leader Edward Lloyd will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 16 at the Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton.

Lloyd served on the New Jersey Pinelands Commission from 2002 until his death last Saturday at age 74.  He spent nearly fifty years as one of the most consequential advocates for environmental causes in state history.

“A dedicated champion of climate action, Ed played an integral role in shaping and advancing my Administration’s crucial climate agenda, fighting to protect New Jersey’s sensitive environmental resources, and holding polluters accountable,” Gov. Phil Murphy said in a statement on Monday.  “His decades-long advocacy at the forefront of environmental policy in New Jersey, as well as his work in protecting the Pinelands, will have a lasting impact on our state as we continue to address the escalating challenges of the climate crisis.”

A luncheon will follow the memorial service at the Nassau Inn.  Friends who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Lloyd’s daughter via email.

In lieu of flowers, the Lloyd family has asked that contributions to organizations and institutions he cared about be made in his honor.   A list will be available at a later date.
