Marilyn Eilert, the mother of Wood-Ridge Borough Administrator Christopher Eilert, died on December 20 after battling cancer.  She was 73.

A registered nurse at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck for more than 50 years, Eilert served as president of the Wallington Board of Health and the Wallington Democratic Club.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, former Wallington Councilman Bill Eilert, and her sons and grandchildren.

Christopher Eilert is also the chief of staff to State Sen. Paul Sarlo (D-Wood-Ridge), the chairman of the New Jersey Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee.

Visitation will be held at the Kohler Funeral Home in Wood-Ridge from 3-8 PM on Friday, followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM Saturday at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Wallington.

In lieu of flowers, the Eilert family has asked that donations be made to the  Holy Name Hospital’s Villa Marie Claire Hospice Center in Saddle River.
