Michael J. Hopkins, a former president of CWA Local 1037 and the husband of New Jersey labor leader Hetty Rosenstein, died in his sleep on July 1. He was 84. He was a member of the New Jersey State Worker Organizing Committee that organized 35,000 state employees into the CWA – New Jersey.
Eugenia “Jeanie” Ciattarelli, the mother of former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, died on June 24. She was 92.
Vincent Dransfield, who spent 80 years as a volunteer firefighter and former chief in Little Falls, died on June 26. He was 110 and New Jersey’s oldest person at the time of his death. Dransfield was responding to firehouse calls as recently as 2019 and was reportedly the oldest firefighter in the U.S.
Richard Loccke, a prominent labor attorney who was co-counselor for the New Jersey AFL-CIO and a member of the New Jersey Police and Fire Pension Board, died on June 17. He was 79.
John Havas, a former Jersey Journal reporter, died on June 29. He was 95. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Ralph Padilla, who was mayor of Pittsgrove after a career in law enforcement, died on June 28. He was 58.
Bob Frazier, a former Linden city councilman, died on June 26. He was 87. Frazier served in the New Jersey National Guard.
John Spiech, a former Mahwah councilman, died on June 7. He was 86.
Kathleen Falotico, a former Emerson councilwoman, died on June 23. She was 79.
Bob Jeffrey, a former Wayne school board member, died on June 23. He was 90.
Philip Coyle, who spent 27 years as an assistant Camden County Prosecutor, died on June 23. He was 76.
Robert Albertson, a municipal government administrator for more than four decades, died on June 20. He was 93. Albertson had been the administrator in Woodbridge, Lawrence, Egg Harbor Township, and Marlboro. He served in the U.S. Army Military Police.
Rachel Rainone, a former Democratic county committeewoman in Matawan, died on June 24. She was 96.
Elizabeth Cutler, the former Harding Republican municipal chair, died on June 20. She was 94.
Gerald Pilutkiewicz, a former Woodbridge Republican county committeeman, died on June 27. He was 70.
Dottie Crifasi, who spent decades on the Carlstadt Republican county committee, died on June 13. She was 80. He son, Joe, is the Carlstadt GOP municipal chairman.
Al Evans, who served on the Closter Zoning Board, died on June 24. He was 92.
