Essie May Rice, the mother of State Sen. Ronald Rice (D-Newark) and the grandmother of former Newark City Councilman Ronald C. Rice, has died. She was 95. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Robert J. (Butch) Wilson III, who worked in the office of Gov. Richard J. Hughes after his graduation from Trenton Junior College in 1963, died on January 22. He was 77.
John Healy, a former president of the Jersey City Police Officers PBA and later an aide to Jersey City Councilman Dominick Pugliese, died on January 25. He was 96. Healy was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
Bruce Margandoff, who served as a Millstone councilman and worked for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, died on January 19. He was 80.
Michel Kushwarra, a retired South Brunswick police sergeant who served on the Republican county committee and ran for township council, died on January 27.
Barbara Neumann, a former Ramsey Zoning Board member, died on January 20. She was 71.
Robert Sobeck, a former executive director of the Raritan Township Municipal Utilities Authority and superintendent of the Jersey City Sewage Authority, died on January 21. He was 95.
Joseph Pepe, who had been a confidential clerk at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, died on January 27. He was 85.
Al Rescinio, who had been a member of Republican clubs in Long Branch and Oceanport, died on January 27. He was 92.
