In Memoriam

Connie Giacomarro, who served as a Garfield councilwoman from 2000 to 2004, died on January 27.  She was 84. Giacomarro was the board secretary for the Bergen County Technical Schools and a Democratic county committeewoman.  In the 1970s, she served as an aide to Bergen County Freeholder Jeremiah O’Connor.

Michael DeMarrais, a former municipal court judge in Woodcliff Lake and Montvale, died on January 21.  He was 80.  DeMarrais was the Ridgefield Park Zoning Board attorney at the time of his death and also served as the Woodcliff Lake prosecutor.

Leo Moore, a former Sussex town councilman, died on January 26.   He was 90.  Moore was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War.

Gwendolyn Acree, a Teaneck Democratic county committeewoman, died on January 28.  She was 82.

Bill Feldman, who served for twelve years as president of the Woodbridge Library Board of Trustees, died on January 26.  He was 94.  Feldman was a World War II veteran and worked as a media consultant for the Newark Board of Education from 1952 to 2005.  He was a member of the Colonia Democratic Club.

Etta Kimbrough, a former Ewing Township Deputy Municipal Clerk, died on January 21.  She was 61.

Thomas Tevlin, who served on the Demcoratic county committee in Maplewood, died on January 27.  He was 84.  Tevlin was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired Maplewood firefighter.

Leonarda Abruzzo, a former Republican county committeewoman in Stillwater, died on January 13.  She was 95.

Ross Anzaldi, the brother of Clifton Mayor James Anzaldi, died on January 31.  He was 77.  Anzaldi was a Vietnam veteran.

Lolly Sauer, described by her family as a devoted Democrat, died on January 19 of complications related to COVID-19 while watching President-elect Joe Biden’s memorial to victims of the coronavirus.  Wearing a hazmat suit, her son, Patrick was by her side. The Cape May resident was 78.
