Ernestine Irvin, who in 1948 became the first woman of color to hold a management position at New Jersey Bell, died on December 19.  She was 98.  Irvin

Eugene Kresge, a former Fredon mayor and councilman, died on December 19.  He was 96.  Kresge served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Philip Schick, a former councilman and deputy mayor of Scotch Plains, died on December 11.  He was 93.  He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran.

David Rae, who served as the president of the politically influential Fair Housing Council of Bergen County for 25 years, died on November 23.  He was 79.

Robert Neubig, a former Hardyston planning board member, died on December 21.  He was 74.  Neubig served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and as an Army National Guard member, served in Desert Storm.
