Joseph DiMaria, who spent 12 years as the Paramus borough attorney, died on July 27. He was 89. A U.S. Army veteran, DiMaria served as a special assistant and political affairs advisor to General Lauris Norstadt at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Paris from 196 to 1958. He served as Planning Board attorney for Paramus, Washington, and Lodi, special counsel to Edgewater, and public defender for Saddle Brook, Rochelle Park and Paramus.
Mary Ellen Bova, who volunteered in the office of Rep. Frank Pallone (D-Long Branch), died on July 31. She was 96. Bova was a member of the Oceanport Democratic Club and was a poll worker in Oceanport.
Rowland Copeland, who worked for the U.S. Equality Opportunity Commission, died on July 19. He was 93. Copeland was a World War II veteran.
William Sharp, a former Gloucester County Pollution Control Financing Authority member, died on July 27. He was 88. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, Sharp served as executive vice president of United Jersey Bank/South Jersey. He served as vice chairman of the Gloucester County Housing Authority.
