Harriett Friedner, who played a significant role in Cherry Hill and Camden County politics, died on July 20.  She was 90.

Mary Dorman, who served as social secretary to Gov. Brendan Byrne in the 1970s, died on July 14.  She was 96.  Dorman worked for the White House Historical Association in the 1960s while Jacqueline Kennedy was heading a restoration project.

Joan Meltzer, a former Englewood City Council President, died on February 19.  She was 94.  Meltzer worked for the Bergen County Board of Freeholders from 1977 to 1979, and was a councilwoman from 1981 to 1993.

Lucille Steiner, a former three-term Teaneck councilwoman, died on July 20.  She was 97.  Steiner also served on the Teaneck Board of Education, as a member of the Planning Board, and as deputy mayor.

Dennis Toal, a former Woodbury Heights councilman, died on July 10.  He was 76.

Stanley Herb, Jr., a former Secaucus school board member, died on July 12.  He was 89.  Herb served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

John Armata, Jr., a former Howell Zoning Board member, died on July 17.  She was 83.

Herbert Slote, a former member of the Springfield (Union County) Democratic Club, died on July 16.  He was 102.  Slote was a World War II U.S. Navy combat veteran.
