Everett Dayton, a former mayor of Boonton, died of complications related to COVID-19.  He was 88.  Dayton and his father both served as Boonton Township mayors and township committee members.

Joseph Manfredi, a former Elizabeth City Councilman, city treasurer and parking authority chairman, died on May 28 of complications related to COVID-19.  He was 85.  Manfredi was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as Elizabeth’s housing director and as a member of the Monmouth County Vocational Board of Education.

Joseph Dennis, a former mayor of Shrewsbury, died on June 1. He was 79.  Dennis served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

James McConnell, who spent 28 years as an assistant Somerset County Prosecutor, died on June 2.  He was 59.

Ronald Ollie, a former member of the Newark Environmental Commission and the East Orange Planning Board, died on June 1.  He was 69.  Ollie served on the board of the NAACP and the Newark Arts Council.

Russell Buchanan, who was a member of the Mendham Township Planning Board for 18 years, died on May 31.  He was 95.

Michael Fielo, one of Essex County’s first full-time public defenders, died on May 24.  He was 81.

Susan Belz, a former Millstone school board member, died on June 2.  She was 73.

Jack Gillespy, Jr., a longtime member of the Maple Shade Democratic Club, died on June 5.  He was 80.  Gillespy was a retired New Jersey state employee.

Mary Elizabeth Gusky, a former member of the Livingston Democratic Club, died on June 4.  She was 100.
