Codey Tribute: Jerry Walker

Hudson County Commissioner and Assemblyman-elect Jerry Walker released the following statement on the death of former Governor Richard J. Codey:

“I join the State of New Jersey in mourning the passing of former Governor Richard “Dick” Codey. Governor Codey dedicated decades of his life to public service, leading with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the people of our state. His advocacy for mental health awareness and reform changed countless lives and helped remove stigma for families across New Jersey. Whether serving as Governor, Senate President, or Assemblyman, his leadership was always rooted in humanity and service. New Jersey is better because of Dick Codey’s contributions. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. May he rest in peace.”
