Gov. Mikie Sherrill has nominated her first Superior Court Judge: Molly Hurley Kellett, a partner at a major New Jersey law firm, to an open seat in Union County.
Kellett had been previously nominated by Gov. Phil Murphy, but the State Senate did not move to confirm her before the old legislature adjourned. Also in that group was Joseph Maurice, the chief municipal prosecutor in Wyckoff.
Murphy had dramatically winnowed down the number of judicial vacancies before he left office in January. There are currently 17 vacancies.
Kellett is part of the commercial litigation, construction, labor and employment, and professional liability practice groups at Connell Foley’s Roseland office.
Kellett had served as chair of the Cranford Planning Board. A Seton Hall Law School graduate, she served as a law clerk to Superior Court Judge Heidi Willis Currier. Between college and law school, she worked at Fortune magazine.
