Jack Ciattarelli has landed his 12th endorsement from a Republican county chairman, adding Monmouth County GOP leader Shaun Golden to his list of supporters in his bid to take on Gov. Phil Murphy in the fall.
Golden, who is also the Monmouth sheriff, was joined by top members of the Republican leadership team: Tom Arnone, the director of the County Board of Commissioners; and County Clerk Christine Hanlon.
“Jack has demonstrated that he has what it takes to unite our Party and to inspire New Jersey voters to get behind him so we can bring back fair, strong and responsive government to the State of New Jersey,” said Golden. “It is time to get together and support Jack for the Republican nomination for Governor in New Jersey.
Ciattarelli has added endorsements from Republican county chairs in Bergen, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Ocean, Passaic and Salem following Monday’s announcement that Doug Steinhardt had dropped out of the race. He already had backing from county chairmen in Atlantic, Burlington and Somerset.
Also on board for Ciattarelli: GOP vice chairs Tony Fiore, John Cantalupo, Susan Cohen and Robert Nicastro; and GOP state committee members Peter Carton and Mary Pat Angelini.
“We need a strong leader who is going to be able to handle the tough decisions that need to be made post pandemic,” Arnone said. “Jack is ready to meet this challenge head on and the Monmouth county GOP stands behind him and will work hard for him.”
Hanlon, the top Republican vote-getter in 2020, said that Ciattarelli would be a “strong leader who understands the problems facing New Jersey.”
“It is clear that we need new leadership to bring New Jersey back from this health crisis,” she said.
