The search to replace former Education Commissioner Lamont Repollet is still on.
“We’re in that process. We want to make sure we get it right,” Gov. Phil Murphy said Monday. “Kevin Dehmer is doing a great job as acting, but we clearly want to get the top position filled, and we will.”
Dehmer, the Department of education’s chief financial officer and an assistant commissioner within its the Division of Finance, was made interim commissioner after Repollet left the administration to become president of Kean University last month.
He is a longtime Department of Education employee.
