Former President Barack Obama will be in Newark on October 23 to campaign for Gov. Phil Murphy.
Murphy is trying to boost urban turnout as he seeks to become the first Democratic governor to win re-election in 44 years.
He’ll participate in an early vote rally, two days in advance of the start of nine days of early in-person voting.
Obama’s appearance, first reported by The Hill, is the first of the 2021 campaign. The former president campaigned for Murphy when he ran for governor in 2017.
Jill Biden will stump for Murphy in Edison on Friday.
