Matt Anderson, a Democratic state committeeman from Monmouth County and a former chief of staff to two State Assembly members, has joined the Hoboken Strategy Group as vice president.

The 27-year-old Anderson worked for Joanne Downey (D-Freehold) and Eric Houghtaling (D-Neptune) before joining Direct Development.  He is the president and founder of Millennials for NJ, a political action committee, and is currently a law student at Seton Hall University.

He is a former executive director of the Monmouth County Democrats and a top political advisor to Senate Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch).  He serves as a member of the Red Bank Board of Adjustment.

Anderson won a special election for state committeeman in 2020 and won a full-term in 2021 after winning the organization line at a competitive Democratic county convention last March that saw two incumbents lose party support for re-election.  Anderson was the top vote-getter.
