American Hindu Coalition, a grassroots coalition of Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and South-East Asian American communities, has endorsed Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Tenafly) for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination.
“We view Josh Gottheimer, a champion for diversity and bipartisanship, as part of our extended South-East Asian American family,” said Harsh Sethi, the AGC president. “A significant turnout from the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and other South-East Asian American communities will be key in securing Josh’s victory. We urge our communities to unite and vote in this critical election.”
The organization praised Gottheimer’s record as a centrist problem solver and his push to make New Jersey more affordable.
“His leadership style reflects collaboration over division and results over rhetoric,” an endorsement letter stated. “As governor, Josh Gottheimer will bring that same energy and commitment to making New Jersey more affordable, more inclusive, and more secure for all families.”
Gottheimer faces Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), New Jersey Education Association President Sean Spiller, and former Senate President Steve Sweeney in the June 10 Democratic primary.
