Gov. Phil Murphy has nominated Tracy Thompson as the state Insurance Fraud Prosecutor.
Thompson, a 20-year-veteran of the state attorney general’s office, has been holding the post on an acting basis since March 2018.
“For the last three years, she has relentlessly protected New Jersey residents from insurance fraud schemes,” Murphy said. “I know that she will continue to serve our state honorably and I look forward to her confirmation by the Senate.”
The 56-year-old Trenton resident headed the Department of Law and Public Safety’s Human Trafficking program and served as an Assistant Mercer County Prosecutor. She also holds the title of Assistant Attorney General.
Thompson was among an extended list of potential candidates considered for a seat on the New Jersey Supreme Court in anticipation of Justice Walter Timpone’s retirement in 2020. Murphy nominated Fabiana Pierre-Louis, who currently serves on the top court.
