The statewide deaths related to coronavirus is now at 2,350 after 168 New Jerseyans died since Saturday, Gov. Phil Murphy announced today.

Murphy reported an additional 3,733 more New Jersey residents have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last day, bring the total to 61,850.

As of 10 PM last night, 7,604 state residents were reported hospitalized, with 1,914 listed as critical or in intensive care, with 1,644 of them on ventilators.

New Jersey has secured an additional 200 ventilators from the federal government, Murphy said.

“Ventilators are our number one need right now,” he said. “We won’t stop fighting to get the equipment we need to save every life we can.”

On Face the Nation this morning, Murphy said that he would be “the happiest guy in New Jersey” if the state’s economy can reopen by May.   He cautioned that it must come on the “back of a full health care recovery.”
