Parimal Garg, the chief counsel to Gov. Phil Murphy, issued the following statement today on the departure of George Helmy as Murphy’s Chief of Staff:
“Serving as chief of staff to the nation’s most constitutionally powerful Governor is one of the hardest jobs not just in New Jersey, but anywhere in America. George Helmy has not only held this crucial job longer than anyone in our state’s history — including during the greatest public health crisis in the history of our state — but has also excelled in it every day with an in-depth knowledge of policy, politics, and communications. All of New Jersey’s residents are fortunate for his distinguished service, and I am honored to have been able to work side-by-side with him. I wish him nothing but the best in his next chapter and know that he will continue to contribute greatly to the public life of our state.”
