Helmy Departure: Jeannine LaRue

By David Wildstein, September 19 2023 8:29 pm

Jeannine LaRue, a New Jersey civil rights icon, issued the following statement today on the departure of George Helmy as Gov. Phil Murphy’s chief of staff:

“George Helmy will go down in history as one of New Jersey’s most accomplished chiefs of staff for a governor.  He has served Governor Murphy with distinction during very difficult timesthat included the pandemic as well as what appeared to be a “curse” that no Democratic governor could win a second term.  I would love to say I will miss George, but I won’t.  Because he will do what has done so well over the past few decades: develop new relationships and hold onto those that he has found to be productive and useful in this and his past roles during his career.  We can be certain George’s influence and input will continue to be felt throughout the Murphy Administration and beyond.  I wish him well in his next chapter.  Whatever he doesand wherever he lands, you can bet George Helmy will be a class act. Good luck, Chief!”
