Everytown to back anti-Ciattarelli ad with $500k

By Zach Blackburn, October 16 2025 8:00 am

A super PAC affiliated with one of the country’s largest gun violence prevention groups announced Thursday it will spend $500k on a digital ad campaign backing Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s (D-Montclair) nomination for governor.

Everytown for Gun Safety’s super PAC is leading the ad buy alongside Greater Garden State, a super PAC supported by the Democratic Governors Association. The 30-second ad argues Sherrill’s opponent, Republican former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, is too extreme to lead New Jersey. The ad states Ciattarelli wants an abortion ban in New Jersey and voted against a bill that would require criminal background checks to buy a gun.

Everytown said Sherrill will bolster New Jersey’s gun laws and keep illegal weapons off the streets of New Jersey.

“As a Navy veteran, former prosecutor, and leader in Congress on gun safety, Mikie Sherrill has proven she knows what it takes to keep New Jersey families safe,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Electing her as New Jersey’s next governor is a top priority for Everytown, and our grassroots army will go all-out to keep the governor’s office in the hands of a gun sense champion.”

Script:

“Just how extreme is MAGA Jack Ciattarelli? A background check reveals a lot. On abortion, Ciattarelli opposes the Reproductive Freedom Act and wants an abortion ban in New Jersey. On criminal background checks that would keep guns away from violent criminals, Ciattarelli voted no. And Ciattarelli even opposed New Jersey’s Red Flag Law that can protect kids and stop school shootings. MAGA Jack Ciattarelli. He’s just too extreme for New Jersey.”
