The New Jersey Performing Arts Center will host the first of two debates between the major party candidates for Governor of New Jersey, with the second debate between Phil Murphy and Jack Ciattarleli being hosted by New Jersey PBS.

The New Jersey Globe will co-host a debate between the candidates for Lt. Governor with News 12 New Jersey, the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University, and Project Ready.  Murphy is running with the incumbent, Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver.  Ciattarelli has not yet picked his running mate and has two more weeks to do so.

The Election Law Enforcement Commission awarded the three debates after reviewing applications from six media organizations at their meeting on Tuesday.

The NJ PAC debate will be aired on WABC-TV in New York, WPVI, 6-ABC in Philadelphia, and Univision and is co-sponsored by NJ Advance Media/NJ.com and the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.

The NJ PBS debate will also air on WYNC and is co-sponsored by Rowan University and New York Public Radio.

Two proposals sponsored by Gannett and the USA Today Network were not selected.
