Ciattarelli tells Murphy to give up salary

GOP gubernatorial candidate says Murphy shouldn’t take $175,000 paycheck during pandemic

The leading announced Republican candidate for governor says Phil Murphy shouldn’t accept his paycheck during the pandemic.

“Gov. Murphy needs to give up his salary.  1/3 of all N.J. small businesses have closed for good, the unemployed are choosing between food & medication, and yet the guy who made $7 million last year alone is still pocketing $175,000 a year from taxpayers?” tweeted former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli on Tuesday.

Ciattarelli is one of two announced candidates seeking to take on Murphy in the 2021 gubernatorial election.  Two other Republicans, GOP State Chairman Doug Steinhardt and Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick, are also mulling bids.

“Give me a break. Better yet, as long as your shutdowns & business restrictions continue, give the taxpayers a break and give up your salary Governor,” Ciattarelli said.  “That’s what I would do.”
