Former Gov. Chris Christie will celebrate the 15th anniversary of his election as Governor of New Jersey on Thursday evening with a party at Drumthwacket, the governor’s mansion, with the consent of the state’s Democratic governor, Phil Murphy.

“Only Chris Christie would hold a part to celebrate himself,” said former CWA State Director Hetty Rosenstein, a longtime Christie detractor

Christie was elected governor in 2009, unseating incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine by 86,714 votes, 48.5% to 44.9%.

The celebration is free and open to the public. Those who would like to celebrate Christie’s election, for better or worse, can obtain a ticket by clicking HERE.

Christie’s celebration comes with the blessing of Murphy, who campaigned as the anti-Christie candidate when he ran for governor in 2017. He slammed Christie for cutting off Planned Parenthood funding, eleven credit downgrades, pulling support for the ARC tunnel, wars against public employees, multiple scandals, and enabling Donald Trump’s first election.

Now, as he prepares to enter his eighth and final year in office, Murphy is taking a more statesman-like approach.

“Governor Murphy and the First Lady are happy to open the doors of Drumthwacket to any former governor who requests use of the official residence,” said Natalie Hamilton, Murphy’s spokeswoman.

Murphy will not be in attendance, and no tax dollars will be used to subsidize Christie’s event.

Christie is calling the event 55 @ 15, a nod to the 55th governor celebrating a 15th anniversary.

Overflow parking will be at the Morven Museum and Garden, and shuttle buses will be provided for transport to and from Drumthwacket.
