While supporting some of President Donald Trump’s actions during his first two days in office, Republican gubernatorial candidate Jon Bramnick said today that he disagrees with the “pardon of the violent participants who attacked police in the actions of January 6th, 2021.”

“Those convicted of violent actions against cops include Ryan Nichols, who pleaded guilty to assaulting officers, David Dempsey, who beat officers with a metal crutch and wooden poles, and Daniel Rodriguez, who used a stun gun multiple times on a police officer, should remain in jail.,” said Bramnick.

The Republican state senator from Westfield refused to support Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024.  He is seeking his party’s nomination for governor as a moderate

“Republicans are proud to support law enforcement, but if we are to remain consistent in that message, we cannot condone any violence against police – especially through presidential pardons,” Bramnick stated. “Other Republican candidates for governor should do the same.”

Still, Bramnick praised Trump’s orders on infrastructure, energy, border security, and government efficiency.
