GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli picked up 25 endorsements from 25 key Bergen County Republican leaders, including three district chairs, in his bid for the organization line in the county with the second-most number of votes in a statewide primary election.

The early show of support — the first endorsements announced in Bergen — gives Ciattarelli an early boost in advance of a county GOP convention traditionally held in March.

Backing Ciattarelli’s candidacy are District 38 Chairman Thomas Fellig, District 39 Chairman Steven Hopper, District 40 Chair Drita McNamara, and Paramus Councilman Christopher DiPiazza, the Bergen County Republican Organization deputy chairman.

“Jack has been very supportive of me, my family and my candidacy over the past several years. Jack even rolled up his sleeves and knocked on doors alongside me this past October, which says a lot about his commitment to helping elect Republicans in November,” DiPiazza said. “I’m proud to support him for Governor.”

Ciattarelli has also won endorsements from Republican municipal chairs in Allendale, Closter, Emerson, Englewood, Fair Lawn, Franklin Lakes, Garfield, Hillsdale, Mahwah, Midland Park, Montvale, New Milford, North Arlington, Oradell, Palisades Park, Ridgefield, Ridgewood, Rutherford, Tenafly, Wallington, and Wyckoff.

Fellig is the municipal chair in Glen Rock, Hopper chairs the local GOP organization in Park Ridge, and McNamara is the Wyckoff Republican chair.

“Over the past five years Jack Ciattarelli has been in Bergen County more times than I can count and has emphatically and consistently supported our local Republican candidates,” McNamara stated. “Jack is a truth-teller and we always know where he stands. His plan to fix New Jersey will lead our party to victory in 2021. With Jack at the top of the ticket, Republicans will pick up seats in District 40 and throughout Bergen County.”

Hopper said that Ciattarelli has “fantastic vision and energy to lead us to victory in November.”

That brings the total number of Bergen Republican municipal chair endorsements for Ciattarelli to 24 out of 70 municipalities.

All 25 have votes on the Bergen County Republican Policy Committee, which makes a recommendation of support to the full county GOP convention.

Four years ago, the organization line in Bergen went to Kim Guadagno.  She carried Bergen by 6,222 votes, 57%-28%, against Ciattarelli in a five-way race.

Bergen County has 146,444 registered Republicans, more than any county but Ocean.
