U.S. Sen. Cory Booker’s presidential campaign is unionizing.
“I’m thrilled that the Teamsters have earned majority support to serve as our campaign workers’ union representatives,” Booker campaign manager Addisu Demissie. “Cory Booker has a longstanding relationship with the Teamsters and organized labor and we share common goals, like rewarding hard work with a living wage and good benefits. We are proud to become a unionized campaign and celebrate this step forward together.”
International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 238 will serve as the campaign workers’ union representatives.
Negotiations for a final collective bargaining agreement are still in the works, though the campaign already provides employees with fully-employer-paid medical, dental, vision and short-term disability insurance.
Workers also get paid sick leave and paid time off as well as three months of paid parental leave, among other things.
