Democrats in Union County know a good deal when they see one.
So when State Sen. Nicholas Scutari, who became county chairman last February, invited county committee members to join him as his guests at a Somerset Patriots baseball game on Wednesday evening, nearly 200 Democrats took him up on his offer.
The complementary event gave party leaders a chance to relax together in advance of the fall campaign, where Democrats are looking to replace five-term Rep. Leonard Lance with Democrat Tom Malinowski, a former Assistant U.S. Secretary of State in the Obama administration.
“2018 has already been a very busy year for our party,” said Scutari. “While Union County will undoubtedly play a critical role in the coming midterms this fall, it’s important for us to also come together for some family fun as well. I’m glad so many members took us up on the offer.”
