Among Gov. Phil Murphy’s direct appointments today are two members of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee with votes in the contested race for state chairman.

Murphy named Franceline Ehret of Middlesex County to the Transgender Equality Task Force and Terry Tucker of Essex to the New Jersey Complete Count Commission.

The appointment of Ehret, a former staff representative at the Communications Workers of America and a former president of IFPTE Local 194, comes one day after Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin McCabe endorsed LeRoy Jones for Democratic State Chairman.

Tucker is the chief of staff to Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver and is president of the East Orange Board of Education, where Jones serves as Democratic municipal chairman.

Murphy is backing incumbent John Currie for re-election.

As direct appointments, Ehret and Tucker do not require State Senate confirmation.
