Cape May Mayor Zachary Mullock, the Democratic candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd district, has $120,210 cash-on-hand as he prepares to face four-term Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in the general election.
Van Drew has $1.54 million in his warchest after raising over $400,000 in the second quarter of 2026. This is the largest cash-on-hand Van Drew has shown since he launched his first congressional bid over eight years ago.
Mullock has raised $352,763 so far for his House race; $157,615 of that was raised between May 14 and June 30.
Van Drew has not yet filed his second-quarter fundraising report.
Mullock won the Democratic primary by a margin of 39.6% to 27.5% against Tim Alexander, a former prosecutor who was making his third run for the seat. Former USAID official Bayly Winder finished third with 22.2%, followed by 10.7% for newcomer Terri Reese.
Winder raised $825,207 and still has $110,284 in the bank. He’s reporting $68,150 in debt.
According to his Federal Election Commission report, Winder has already repaid most of the $48,150 he loaned to his campaign; he still has an $8,150 balance on his personal loan.
Alexander raised $87,344 and has $1,074 left; he’s carrying a $15,000 loan to himself as debt. Reese raised $16,793 and has $129 remaining in her campaign account.
The 2nd district is one of two red congressional districts in the state, along with NJ-4. Donald Trump won the district by 12.5 percentage points in 2024, and Van Drew won it by 17 points. Last year, Jack Ciattarelli carried Van Drew’s district by 7 points.
