Emerge New Jersey, which helps Democratic women win elections in New Jersey, has named Shawn Kathryn Laurenti as their new board chair.

A fixture in New Jersey politics for decades, Laurenti was a founding member of the organization, which helps train women to achieve success in the political arena.  She runs her own government relations firm, Laurenti Consultants, and has spent thirty years advising clients on working with state and local governments.

“It is an honor to step into the role of board chair of such an amazing organization,” said Laurenti. “I look forward to working alongside such an impressive group of women to ensure New Jersey elects more women in elected office in 2018 and 2020.”

Laurenti succeeds former Maplewood Committeewoman Celia King, who is stepping down after four years as board chair.  During her tenure, Emerge New Jersey graduated five classes of young Democratic women all dedicated to running for elected office.

  1. Best Wishes to Shawn in her role as Board Chair. I know she will do an outstanding job. It is a pleasure to pass the baton to a very capable individual. Celia King
