Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, once the front runner for the Democratic nomination for governor, is beginning a series of small road trips to visit some of the people who had once supported him – many of whom still feel a little burned by his sudden and still unexplained exit from the race.
One Democrat who still likes Fulop is Marlboro Mayor Jon Hornick. But even old friends are finding that Fulop may not have the star power that he did two and a half years ago.
Hornick had scheduled a fundraiser for Fulop on August 29, but the event was rescheduled due to lack of interest. Instead, Hornick merged the Fulop even with a fundraiser earlier this evening for candidates for the Marlboro Board of Education.
That means Fulop is riding the coattails of Marlboro school board candidates in order to pick up some campaign cash in Monmouth County.
