Zdan to endorse Bashaw

Update — Statement of Zdan:  “Unity in the Republican party is even more important now than it was last week to mobilize against the radical progressive agenda of Democrat insider Andy Kim,” said Alex Zdan. “Today I am putting my support behind Curtis Bashaw as the candidate to beat Democrats in November. He and I hold shared views on the majority of the issues: securing our borders, supporting our military, police and first responders, rebuilding our economy, and ending the failed leadership of Bob Menendez and Joe Biden. I’m confident that Curtis Bashaw can unite the party, and will help him achieve that while working towards Republican down ballot wins across the state.”

Alex Zdan is expected to endorse Curtis Bashaw for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate this morning.

The endorsement comes one day after Zdan, a former News 12 New Jersey reporter, dropped out of the Senate race.

Zdan will announce his support of Bashaw this morning outside the Florham Park Diner before a meeting of The Tuesday Group, a Republican organization led for years by attorney Alan Ashkinaze.

Following his exit from the race, Republican county organizations in Monmouth and Passaic, which had backed Zdan, moved to give their line to Bashaw, a Cape May hotelier and real estate executive making his first run for public office.

The endorsement comes despite an apparent strategic alliance Zdan had with another Senate candidate, Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano, during the convention season.
