Former News 12 New Jersey reporter Alex Zdan is headed to a runoff with Curtis Bashaw at the Monmouth County Republican convention to award the organization line in the race for U.S. Senate.

Zdan led Bashaw by two votes, 103-101, with Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner finishing third with about 40 votes.

Six other Senate candidates — Steve Boston, Michael Estrada, Albert Harshaw, Brian Jackson, Justin Michael Murphy, and Fred Schneiderman – did not compete in Monmouth.

Republicans are picking a candidate for the seat held since 2006 by Democrat Bob Menendez, who is under indictment on federal corruption charges.
