Republican U.S. Senate candidate Justin Murphy has $122 cash-on-hand as he prepares for a general election bid against Democratic incumbent Cory Booker.
Murphy, the former deputy mayor of Tabernacle, a small municipality in South Jersey, was the surprise winner of the Republican primary last month. He reported raising $39,221 so far this cycle, including $11,715 in April, May, and June of this year.
The candidate has loaned roughly $8,735 to his own campaign.
Booker has $22.2 million in his campaign warchest, which gives him a cash advantage of about 181,000 to 1 against Murphy.
An attorney and U.S. Navy veteran, Murphy has acknowledged running a low-budget campaign for the Senate. He has no paid campaign staff and ran no TV ads in the GOP primary.
Instead, Murphy launched a grassroots 21-county town hall tour earlier this month. He has competed events in Mercer and Middlesex counties; his next town hall is set for August 7 at 6 PM at The Gibson House in Marlton.
