Rep. Thomas Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield) has scored the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Business, giving him a mix of business and labor support as he seeks a second term in Congress from New Jersey’s 7th district.

“Rep. Tom Kean has a proven record of supporting small businesses, earning a NFIB Voting Record of 100%,” said NFIB State Director Eileen Kean.  “He has prioritized tax relief by cosponsoring the Main Street Tax Certainty Act and truly understands the environment that New Jersey job creators and their employees need to succeed. We are proud to endorse Representative Kean for re-election today and look forward to continuing to work with him.”

Eileen Kean and Tom Kean are not related, although both grew up in Livingston.  The NFIB is the nation’s largest small business grassroots advocacy organization.

Kean faces a competitive re-election campaign against Democrat Sue Altman.  He narrowly ousted two-term Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) in 2022.  Kean had the NFIB endorsement in that race and in 2020, when he came within one percentage point of unseated Malinowski.

“Small businesses are the economic backbone of our country, creating jobs on Main Street and in each of our communities,” Kean stated. “Supporting these entrepreneurs by breaking the back of inflation, reducing rising costs, and cutting the bureaucratic red tape is essential for these businesses to continue to thrive and grow. That is my focus each day in D.C. – to be a champion for business in the Garden State.”
