Republican congressional candidate David Richter launched his first general election TV ad, a positive spot highlighting his private sector credentials as the CEO of one of the country’s largest construction firms.
Richter faces freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) in New Jersey’s 3rd district. Kim defeated a two-term GOP incumbent in 2018.
In the ad, “Time for Action,” Richter cites his success in building Hill International and says that Congress needs more outsiders with real-world job creation experience.
He also reminds voters that he grew up in Burlington County, a move that could have inoculate him from charges of shopping for a congressional district.
The ad includes footage of Richter on construction sites, a farm, and with his wife and four daughters.
Script: “David Richter turned around a struggling construction firm. Built it into a leader and created thousands of high-paying jobs. A husband and father of four daughters, David grew up in Burlington County. He knows how to rebuild the economy and create jobs. David is the strong leader we need to help grow local businesses, invest in infrastructure and support and protect our families. It’s time for action. David Richter for Congress.”
The Richter campaign did not say where the ad would run or how much money they are putting behind it.
Kim worked at the U.S. Department of State and in the Obama White House as a National Security staffer before running for Congress.
“Career politicians have lost touch with what matters to the people. That has never been clearer than right here in the Third District,” said Richter. “Andy Kim is a career bureaucrat who has spent his entire career living off a taxpayer-funded paycheck. It’s time to send a political outsider to Congress who has the real-world experience to rebuild our economy and create the jobs we need to get people back to work.”
