Richter again hits Gibbs on toll hikes

By Nikita Biryukov, May 27 2020 6:03 pm

David Richter resumed attacks aimed at former Burlington County Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs over toll hikes supported by the union that employs Gibbs.

“There is no way that the Turnpike Authority should have raised tolls at this moment.  First, the public did not have a fair chance to have their voices heard on this issue.  Second, this is absolutely the wrong time to be increasing costs on New Jersey’s drivers,” Richter said.

“If I’m fortunate enough to earn the trust and support of the voters of the Third District, they will not have to worry about whether I am voting to support their best interests, unlike Kate who will need to be repay her campaign debts to her union bosses.”

Gibbs is deputy director of Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative Local 825, which is an affiliate of Operating Engineers Local 825.

Both she and Richter are running for the nod to take on Rep. Andy Kim (D-Marlton).

“More fake outrage from David Richter.  Before shareholders threw him out for destroying the company, David Richter made millions by fleecing taxpayers on toll road projects across the country, including New Jersey,” Gibbs campaign manager Angelo Lamberto said. “Now, all of a sudden, he’s flip-flopping on toll hikes?  How convenient!  But what do you expect from a guy who bad-mouthed and attacked President Trump and did business with the Biden’s, until he decided to run for Congress.”
