Rep. Tom Malinowski’s lead is now down to 5,780 votes against Republican Thomas Kean, Jr. after additional ballots were counted in Warren County earlier today.

Kean added 506 votes since this afternoon, when additional tallies from Union and Morris came in.

Malinowski is now ahead of Kean, 202,178 to 196,409, 50.7% to 49.3%, in a race that remains too close to call.

There are at least 37,259 votes remaining to be counted, with a number that could be over 55,000.

Kean, the New Jersey Senate Minority Leader, is closing in on Malinowski’s 28,4120-vote, 55.3%-44.7% lead on election night.

Warren County added 1,525 more votes, with Kean increasing his margin there from 2,279 to 2,774.

The Union County Clerk posted vote totals that are slightly different than the Board of Elections.  That tally gave Malinowski 8 additional votes and 19 more for Kean.

Somerset County, which has at least 13,349 ballots still uncounted in the 7th, will not resume counting until Friday.
